Chameleon Net Gets Serious with Diabetes UK (8/01/2010)
The campaign is designed to attract people take up activities in support of three primary objectives: preventing diabetes, providing support to people who have the condition and raising funds.
With Get Serious also making use of social media channels, the home page required a compact page design to project the key elements of the campaign to a wide range of user groups.
Chameleon Net's design team responded to the brief by creating an informal feel to the user interface with the use of freehand section headers to a drop down menu to link to six campaign pledges. These invite users to campaign, volunteer their time, donate, fundraise, become a member and/or adopt a healthier lifestyle. Each tab links to a page with further pledge options. A seventh tab allows users to make their own pledge.
The home page, www.diabetes.org.uk/getserious, also shows recent tweets from the Get Serious Twitter feed and enables supporters to donate their Facebook status updates to the campaign. This facility permits Diabetes UK to post three updates to the Facebook status of participating supporters.
Further features of the home page include a text message short code to enable people to donate from their mobile phones and a ‘supporters so far' counter. Video content shows clips of committed supporters describing how they are getting behind Get Serious, while a Media Wall enables everyone pledging their support to the campaign to post images, videos and other content of their own.
An important element of the project was to ensure the campaign pages could be integrated successfully into the website CMS, by Netcel, Diabetes UK's technical partner.
Commenting on the project, Chameleon Net Account Manager Jeremy Davis, said, “Following on from our previous work with Diabetes UK, Get Serious was an excellent opportunity to show our understanding of the charity and its campaign objectives. We're delighted with the initial response to the page designs, which prove that our focus on user appeal is paying off.”
